In conjuction with Visit Malaysia Year 2007, the first major Bollywood award function aptly named Global Indian Film Awards was held in Kuala Lumpur recently. In the premiere and colourful event, Rang De Basanti bagged six awards while Lage Raho Munna Bhai won three awards. It was a 3-day event with all the creme-de-la creme of Bollywood in attendance. Entertaining the crowds were Amisha patel, Abhishek Bachan and Salman khan amongst others. Hrithik Roshan who is currently being gossiped with Aishwarya Rai, won the Best Actor Award.

Best Director: Rakesyh Omprakash Mehra (Rang De Basanti)
Best Actor: Hrithik Roshan (Krrish)
Best Actress: Bipasha Basu (Corporate)
Best Actor in Supporting Role: Abishek Bachchan (Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna)
Best Actress in Supporting Role: Soha Ali Khan (Rang De Basanti)
Best Comedy Character: Tusshar Kapoor (Golmaal - Fun Unlimited)

Best Baddy Character: Saif Ali Khan (Omkara)
Best Music: A R Rahman (Rang De Basanti)
Best Lyric: Prasoon Joshi (Roobaroo - Rang De Basanti)
Best OST Singer (Male): Zubin (Ya Ali - Gangster)
Best OST Singer (Female): Alka Yagnik (Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna)
Best Choreographer: Gabesh Acharya (Beedi Jalai Le - Omkara)
