People in Malaysia may have mistaken Anugerah Skrin in Singapore which was produced by a mainstream Malay Channel on TCS, Suria Channel for Anugerah Skrin that was held recently in PWTC.
ANUGERAH SKRIN is a talent quest in search for the next big thing in Suria Channel. In this competition, the contestants are judged for their ability in commanding the Malay Language, their spontaneity & creativity and also their talent & skills in performing the given tasks.
Suria’s Anugerah Skrin climaxed to a resounding end with dark horse, Mohd Shahril and hot favourite, Nurhuda crowned as winners for the night.
Both winners will get an acting contract in the next movie by Skop Productions owned by Malaysia’s prolific actor/ producer/director, Datuk Yusof Haslam. The teen movie entitled Evolusi (Evolution) will begin production in August 2006 and will premiere in Malaysia, Singapore & Brunei in 2007. It’s produced at a cost of RM1.5 million. Aaron Aziz, a Singaporean actor has been given similar break in Dua Hati which is currently being televised on TV3 but by a different producer.
This is the first time in TV history that a TV channel has a guaranteed regional movie role as its big prize. It’s Suria’s new direction to go regional for our programmes and our artiste. On top of this, cash and product prizes from the programme sponsors await them too. Â
 
The 2-hr finale was shown LIVE in front of a full house MediaCorp TV Theatre crowd of over 800 seats also captured viewership of over 239,000 viewers (P4+). All 6 Anugerah Skrin finalists are offered a 2-year contract under MediaCorp TV12 Artiste Management Unit (AMU) and will be featured in Suria’s upcoming programmes. Anugerah Skrin Singapore was hosted by Rila and some guy that I don’t care to know..haha..I used to watch Rila on Aksi Mat Yoyo..It has been long and she’s really grown up indeed, at 33 years-old, she’s still single!
