Zee Cine Award 2007 in Genting City of Entertainment has just concluded. Bollywood heartthrob Hrithik Roshan was named Best Actor for his performance in Krrish. Director Rakesh Roshan received the award on behalf of his son from lovebirds Abishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. He then read out a text message from Hrithik: “It started out as an impossible task for my father and I. But this award proves that nothing is impossible.” Fellow nominee Shah Rukh Khan proved he is still the king of Bollywood, when he received the Entertainer of the Year award. Shah Rukh, however, could not be on stage to receive the award as he was getting ready for his stage performance. Kajol received the Best Actress award for her role in Faana defeating close competitor Aishwarya Rai.

The big winners of the night, however, were the less popular films; Rang de Basanti and Lage Raho Munnabhai each received a total of six awards. Rang de Basanti, a film starring Aamir Khan and directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, took the Best Film and Best Director awards as well as some of the more technical awards. Rakeysh said: “It has been a great year and it all started out with a beautiful script. “It would have remained in my drawer collecting dust if it weren’t for Aamir Khan who told me to never fear.” Other big winners include Abishek, who was named Best Supporting Actor for his role in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and Saif Ali Khan for Best Villain in Omkara.
The attendance of young actors gave the awards night a lot of energy, while the older actors lent it grace when Rekha received the Forever Diva Award and Vinod Khanna received the Lifetime Achievement Award. More than 30 awards were given out at the event, which got off to a flying start at the Arena of Stars here in Genting which is complete with its red carpet and the arrival of Shah Rukh, Salman Khan, Shilpa Shetty and Urmila Matondkar. Celebrating the channel’s 10th year with glamour, the Zee Cine Awards 2007 showcased energetic performances by Preity Zinta, Salman Khan, Aishwarya, Abishek and Priyanka Chopra and to the delight of the screaming fans, Abishek even got off the stage to invite his fiancée, Aishwarya, seated among the audience, to dance along with him.

Saw the show on TV. WOW! Very slick, very smoothly done and I think all the MC’s (Indian bollywood personalities) are fabulous. They spoke eloquent English and are obviously very comfortable with the language. The dances were all very grand and colourful.
I only watched some of the awards and i thought the dance performances by most actor/actresses were really good, but nowdays i cant stand Preity Zinta, she used to appear a very down to earth actress but lately she seems to have an arrogant attitude and i cant stand that i think she needs to grow up a little, and shes not a popular actress anyway and i cant believe the kali Kajol won. lol!!!! shes good though but lets face it she left films yonks ago.

Shaan has got the most fabulous voice in the indusrty & there’s no doubt abt it, he gives life to every song that he sings…….very down to earth person & he is an ICON…..may God always bless him.
