It was a superbly wonderful night as the clock struck 12 last night. It was a very amazing feeling as our country celebrates its 50th Anniversary! As we may happily say the magic 50th number, how many of us truly understand the meaning of MERDEKA or INDEPENDENCE? In short, MERDEKA means FREEDOM. In its actual literal sense, it means we are free to carry out our own governmental and economic policies and decide on the future direction of our country without the restrictive hands of any powers that have their own agenda. But to this date, how best have handled our FREEDOM or make the best of it to make MALAYSIA the BEST country in the world?
I’m very proud with the achievement of MALAYSIA’s UNDER-23 Squad who recently managed to reclaim the PESTABOLA MERDEKA trophy after soo many years by thrashing MYANMAR 3-1. ADHA ZAQUAN has been instrumental in this achievement and managed to score the first goal in the previous night’s match. Good for them, and for us, at least we have a strong squad to face BAHRAIN for WORLD CUP 2010 QUALIFYING round in October. Also proud of NICOLE DAVID for being World’s Number 1 Squash Player and we will be having our own ASTRONOUT on the moon soon.
But enough of sports achievement, how are we in areas that really matter most such as ECONOMY and BUSINESS COMPETITIVENESS? After only these will determine our survival and not some world record in sports or some GUINESS RECORD to swim across some sea as organized by some political party for MAT REMPIT!! How many of us are still living below the POVERTY LINE? The answer is ..so significant! When are we going to be ahead in the field of science and technology? Well congrats to some who have remarkably made us proud with biodiesel technology..But we want more!! The hunger must be there to SUCCEED to make MALAYSIA the best country in the WORLD!!
