There is soo much hype amongst celebrities about PUSAT KURSUS PERKAHWINAN DI ZURA’S AKADEMIK. Amongst the celebrities who have attended their KURSUS KAHWIN at ZURA’S AKADEMIK, BANGSAR were Diana Naim, Benjy, Azrinaz Mazhar Hakim, Arash Mohamad, Dato’ Mukhriz Mahathir, Lydia Ibtisam and the latest one is DYNAZ, who attended her KURSUS KAHWIN just recently on 5-6 January 2008. Everybody simply wants to go there because the celebs go there. Syokkahwin.com was privileged to experience at first hand the excitement and the joy of attending the kursus kahwin there as well as to learn more what have been the attracting factors at Zura’s Akademik besides it being a place popular with the local celebrities. I just have to give this place a break before commenting further, so I said to myself. On that day itself, I arrived with high expectations to be treated like a celebrity. But looking at the place, I was shocked that the celebrities even go there!

Zura’s Akademik has been in operations for more than 15 years and it’s amongst the first PUSAT KURSUS KAHWIN to be opened in Kuala Lumpur. Headed wonderfully by CIKGU MOHD NOR, the centre has grown rapidly in popularity and has been everyone’s favourite. The key differentiating factor in Zura’s Akademik is their extreme dedication in making sure that everybody attending the course understand the marriage application process or in another words, proses permohonan untuk mendapatkan kebenaran berkahwin. You see different states have different application requirements since they fall under different jurisdictions and not controlled by the centre. This has been a great help. I must say that I couldn’t have understood the process much better if not Cikgu Mohd Nor repeating the process over and over again in Day 2 from Day 1. However, at the bare minimum, you must prepare the following to apply for KEBENARAN BERKAHWIN:

  • Borang permohonan
  • Sijil kursus kahwin & fotokopi
  • Surat Akuan Bujang/Dara/Cerai
  • Fotokopi kad pengenalan
  • Ujian HIV
  • Surat Kebenaran Berkahwin dari pasangan lelaki (untuk pemohon perempuan)

Before I go on, you must know where to get your borang permohonan. According to the general regulations, tempat memohon mestilah sama dengan alamat di kad pengenalan anda i.e. if you had address in Kuala Lumpur, you have to get borang permohonan from KL’s office of Pejabat Agama. But if you are already living somewhere else, say in Kedah but, your i/c address still remains in KL, you can apply in Kedah, however you must get BORANG PERMASTAUTIN from the KEDAH office to prove that you have lived in KEDAH for more than 6 months to be considered as a PEMASTAUTIN. Cikgu Mohd Nor is providing 24hour hotline service to those who have attended the course in case they have any problems in applying for marriage approval.

Cikgu Mohd Nor is assisted by his son Faizal, Fairuz and Fauzan and a few others. I have to salute Cikgu Mohd Nor as all of his kids are well-educated coming from universities such as UiTM. Their brains have been used to good advantage. You can see it all around. Don’t be surprised when you are handed a piece of survey form about Takaful Insurance or offers of personal loans. These back end products certainly add more to Zura’s Akademik’s bottomline. They even take pictures of course participants and later sell them during course break. Food is just ok. I have also been to other KURSUS KAHWIN place and you get nasi beriyani and ayam masak merah. But is food really the determining factor? For some yes. As you walk in through the halls you are greeted by pictures of celebrities who have attended Zura’s Akademik before! You may also see testimonials from Chief Ministers or Menteri Besar of all 13 states in Malaysia.

Ustaz-wise, they are all funny and entertaining although the majority of the jokes are about husband and wife relationships. Some even being poetical about the words that they use. 5 star. The presentations were sophisticated enough with them having 2 projectors and screens. I really feel like in a some restaurant watching EURO 2010. They even provide closed circuit recording linked to 2 television sets for those sitting behind.

My rating is 8/10 and you really get your RM80′s worth for the whole package, but just be careful you may end up paying more! When collecting your SIJIL KURSUS KAHWIN, you are offered a piece of laminated your borang kehadiran kursus for RM5 which is ridiculous. Their reply was it would be useful in case your wedding course cert is lost. Well they should keep a master copy. The issuing party i.e. Jabatan Agama Wilayah Persekutuan would so have a database of issued certificate. So this isn’t really necessary. Think Nurul Syuhada Nurul Ain from MAJALAH TIGA should do a coverage on this!
