Dayang Nurfaizah’s Tribute Nite at Planet Hollywood Kuala Lumpur

Kicking off Planet Hollywood Kuala Lumpur’s Sunday Nite Live series in 2008 was an explosive performance by our homegrown songstress, DAYANG NURFAIZAH! I have to admit that this is the first time me watching Dayang Nurfaizah live at any event. As small and petite as they come, I almost mistook her for MILA AF5. If they are paired together, I bet we could easily fool people who don’t know them well that they are sisters.

Anyhow, the show was absolutely stunning. Dayang went on stage at the scheduled time and launching straight into one of her hit songs, INGIN KUMILIKI. Since it’s a tribute nite, the songs that followed were dedicated to those that have shot her to stardom as well as songs as requested by her fans as a tribute to them..Some asked for PASRAH, a song made famous by ERRA FAZIRA simply to spite ERRA who was present at the show to watch DAYANG with hubby ENGKU EMRAN. I almost shouted “Laguu nasyidd satuuu, Dayaang! A tribute to me..” hehe..In between, I asked myself, what could be so unique about DAYANG? Apakah yang dimiliki Dayang yang tidak dimiliki orang lain seperti BEYONCE? I finally found my answer..It’s her strong Asian voice, her personality and character…But one funny thing that I could see from her performance was she kept peeking at the lyrics books right in front of her especially the oldies and some of the English songs. She tried to avoid making it look so obvious by keeping her head down and closing her eyes from time to time as if she was really into the songs when she actually left them with small openings to catch the sentences of the lyrics. Hmmh…it’s ok Dayang..Nobody can remember all the lyrics in the world..Thanks to Erlina of PLANET HOLLYWOOD KUALA LUMPUR for the media pass.

Dayang tu bukanlah small and petite kalau nak dibandingkan saiz kaum Hawa kat Europe atau America tu, it is just that she has a smaller figure compare to her local big vocal.

She was absolutely stunning in her performance jugak, lagu yg Maybeline paling minati ialah Ingin Ku Miliki and Hanya Padamu from her Dayang 2007 album. Great job Dayang, and keep up your progress in our Malaysian Music industry. A for Dayang Nurfaizah!

damn..u have opinions just about everything..dunno why reference was made to Americans or Europeans when we are talking about local celebs..

  3. MAYBELINE on February 25th, 2008 7:37 am

The answer was simple, the phrase small and petite usually more often been used in the foreign language especially in the used of English language in foreing lands.

I took it as an insult not a compliment. Sorry for my honesty, just being truthful and direct with my opinions, nothing personal!

Jane, aku bukan bos lah disini, Maybeline ini lulusan SPM saja bukan macam fayz kita tu graduate from London School of Economics and Political Science in UK, so siapa bijak dia dapat suara autonomi atau suara mutlak disini, pasti orang tu bukan Maybeline. Orang yg bersesuaian tu ialah fayz seorang saja yg bijak dan graduan luar negeri, siapalah diri Maybeline ni, ye? I’m just another laymen added to the Malaysian population statistics, not more than that!

Thanks Jane for bringing this suggestion, pasti orang tu bukan Maybeline yg jadi group leader, Jane you have selected the wrong choice lah, sorry ye for dissapointing you because Maybeline will always want to remain as MAYBELINE.

    Regards, MAYBELINE

    Salam semua,

For your info, ’small and petite’ phrase are used worldwide, irregardless in Europe or USA.

Di Europe di mana saya bermastautin, selalu jugak di gunakan perkataan ’small and petite’ also known as kecil molek.

Di Singapore, negara kelahiran saya, ‘kecil molek’ pun selalu digunakan.

Simpulan kata, its a universal language.

    Thanks.

Majulah Singapura!, suka lirik lagu kebangsaan Singapura. Terima kasih komentar “Life in Europe” kerana memberi keterangan yg serba lengkap mengenai maksud “small and petite”, untuk pengetahuan bacaan umum.

    Salam mesra, MAYBELINE
