MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu has lost the Sungai Siput parliamentary seat, while Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil lost the Lembah Pantai parliamentary seat to Nurul Izzah Anwar. This is a good development for people in MIC who have lost trust in the party’s leadership. DATUK SERI SAMY VELLU has been leading MIC much longer than TUN DR. MAHATHIR leading UMNO. The public have been making complains about MRR2 bridge, roads leading to LCCT which have not been done in proper manner. In another story, DATUK SERI TAN CHAI HO also lost his seat to PKR’s Abdul Khalid Ibrahim for Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary seat, by majority of 2,515 votes. Other upsets were the loss of DATUK SERI DR. KOH TSU KOON for BATU KAWAN PARLIAMENTARY SEAT as well as DATUK ZAINUDIN MAIDIN, EX-INFORMATION MINISTER. Meanwhile, THE OPPOSITION IS GETTING CLOSE TO TAKING OVER KEDAH and in PENANG, DAP/PKR have gotten enough seats to form a government.

Datuk M Kayveas of People’s Progressive Party has also his seat.
Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz - won in Kuala Kangsar

DAP confirmed today that its Secretary General Lim Guan Eng will be the next Penang Chief Minister. He said that DAP would form the state government with PKR. “It will be a government for all Malaysians. We stress that we will not rule alone but together with PKR. We also hope that the PAS can help this new government”.
Congrats Nurul, good luck in the future leadings
BN, PAS and PKR should set aside their differences and form the Government in Penang. DAP is a chauvinist Chinese party and should be left alone.
Lastword, even on its own, DAP won simple majority in Penang already..they decide what is happening to the State.
There no longer be Datuk Seri Khir Toyo as Selangor’s Chief Minister..At this point in time, the OPPOSITION has conquered 4 states, PENANG, KELANTAN, KEDAH and SELANGOR..

Pak Lah should do something about this…
I dont really mind that Kelantan was won by PAS bcoz there is nothing to surprise about it.. but how come BN lost in Penang? My 2cent say that the strategy to get Dr. Koh into Parliament was wrong, Chinese voters doubt about this, they though that Pak Lah try to replace Dr. Koh with UMNO candidate as Chief Minister..
As malay said “yang di dukung jatuh, yang dikendung berciciran”
The Barisan Nasional government must not take people power for granted. A good lesson learned. Parties that formed state government must learn from the past mistakes of BN government.
The result show that BN shuold be so arrogant.
Corruption are rampant within BN ministers.
The mind set of people are not sama compare to 20
yrs ago. I hope BN will wake up from sweet dream
and do something about whas the people complaint.
i m very happy to see the result of election 2008. congratz…to dap pkr n pas..all the best
a surprise results for opposition parties in MALAYSIA and their voices are louder than BN this 2008 election!congratulation to DAP,PKR & PAS
It was the most unexpected defeat for one who had defended his seat successfully since 1974. The sudden loss of his traditional parliamentary constituency of Sungai Siput tonight came as a devastating shock to Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu so much so that the MIC supremo, upon learning of defeat, made a quick exit from the Dewan Konvensyen Sungai Siput where he was waiting with his close aides for the impending result.
On his way out, he could only muster “goodbye” to reporters and supporters present at the convention hall. The MIC stalwart lost to Dr D. Jeyakumar; his nemesis since 1999, and a man who the MIC strongman had trounced in the last general election when he won with a majority of 10,349 votes.
However, Jeyakumar, a former chest physician who stood on PKR ticket, garnered 16,874 votes to Samy Vellu’s 14,408. It was not only Samy Vellu who had to swallow the bitter pill of defeat, his PPP counterpart Datuk M. Kayveas too lost the Taiping parliamentary seat which he was contesting for the first time.
The loss was expected, given the dissatisfaction among the Chinese and Indian voters on the decision to retain Kayveas for the seat, traditionally held by Gerakan. Kayveas lost to DAP’s Nga Kor Ming, a young lawyer and the opposition party’s socialist youth chief, by more than 4,000 votes.
[ANOTHER WRONG GAMBLE BY BARISAN NASIONAL..NOT LISTENING TO THE GRASSROOT LEVEL]
MIC in shambles with no leader in the wings
KUALA LUMPUR - SATURDAY’S Tamil Nesan had a massive pullout for birthday boy Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu with back-to-back coverage and full-page live-size photographs of him taken out by all 28 Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) candidates, hailing their chief as the greatest man ever born.
The surreal coverage was in stark contrast to the ugly mood among Indians who had already ‘told’ Samy Vellu that his time was up - through the Nov 25 protest and the boycott of Batu Caves during Thaipusam - and were waiting to say it again through the ballot box.
It was Samy Vellu’s final swan song. Except for Dr S. Subramaniam , S. Saravanan and K. Devamani, the other MIC candidates were all wiped out in an unprecedented wave of anger, opening up a new era in politics for Indians.
With most of the MIC bigwigs wiped out, the internal power equation in the party has gone haywire and only time will tell how it is going to unravel.
After such a beating it is also inconceivable that Samy Vellu should continue as party president. Sadly, he does not have a winner in a number two or three to hand over the party to.
The vice-presidents, until press time, appear to have been defeated as well, leaving the MIC leadership in shambles. It will take a long time for the mess to be sorted out.
The MIC representation in the Cabinet and the administration is also in question now that Samy Vellu, the sole Indian minister for 29 years, has been defeated. Who is the winner or loser? Who will to take his place in the Cabinet?
Indian voters form significant numbers in at least 67 parliamentary and 141 state assembly seats where they comprise between 9 per cent and 46 per cent of the electorate.
The results across the country indicate they had used their numbers to vote Opposition and helped change the direction of politics in the country.
They were the deciding factor in constituencies where Malay and Chinese votes divided. Indians who traditionally backed the Government made their small numbers count.
Twenty-two Indians contested in 18 parliamentary seats and 53 Indians contested in 40 seats. They comprised about 8 per cent of contestants.
MIC fielded nine for Parliament and 19 for the state assemblies. The DAP had seven Indians for Parliament and 17 for state while PKR fielded 19 Indians.
In Parliament and the state assemblies, there will be about 20 Indians from the DAP and PKR and all will be sitting on the opposition bench. Previously, in the entire country there were only two Indian MPs - Karpal Singh and M. Kulasegaran - holding the fort.
It is going to be a lively Parliament and Opposition Indian MPs are going to fall over each other to voice Indian woes.
The results are a victory for Makkal Shakti, the force unleashed by Hindraf leader P. Uthayakumar on Nov 25, which ballooned into a formidable Indian movement to carry away so many MIC leaders.
The larger question is of course Indian representation in the government, which would be lesser with so many casualties. The government will have to find new ways to fill the vacancies and not just promote losers into senators and then ministers.
Because of the defeat in some states, with its own BN’s Indian representation is almost nil, it will be a challenging task for the Barisan Nasional power-sharing formula to work. - The Star/ANN.
When DAP or PKR have a celebration dinner, they should invite Khairy J. the Oxford loudmouth as the guest of honour as he indirecty is responsible for hundreds of thousands of voters crossing over to the opposition with his rhetorics and threats which piss off many people.
Mmm..I’m not happy with it. This is a nightmare to Malaysia. Ape2 pun semoga Malaysia aman makmur sejahtera. BN walopun kalah, tapi cool. Hampeh! Mengharu birukan negara. Baling2 batu kt bas la, kt keta polis la. Tak bijak sungguh. Ingat bas ngn keta polis tu jamratul akabah ke? Itu kan harta negara. Duit cukai nkorang gak tu. So dengan sopan santunnya i katakan BODO kepada mereka. Malaysia Peace uols!
Lastword is the people has to be kicked off from Malaysia, we no racist here, you narrow minded. If you want to walk about racist, howabot S’pore, there also dominated by chinese, but there contry better then us. Lastword should be kicked-off from Malaysia. You mother-fucker…
malays voted for 4 parties, indians 1 party, chinese 1 party…do the maths on who gained….
Thanks to the Almighty,
The minority Indians have provenly made a significant difference!Their vote counts…
Hope to have a democratic and peaceful country.
Today’s BN not the same with last time’s BN… Mahathir rised buildings but now pak lah rises prices… hoho
Tahniah kapada Pas dan PKR. Harap segala janji di tunaikankan.
keutamaan ialah penurunan minyak dan toll.
It is really time for BN to really wake up because it is very common that they just kept bringing up racial issue. It is now 2008 and not 1960. This election results is simply the expression of the feeling of the minority in Malaysia. PKR has so much support from the Chinese and Indian voters too. The attitude of the minority is rather simple, it is for sure to vote an opposition they like but if it doesn’t exist in that area then any opposition will do, and if still not available, then it is time to vote an independent cadidiate. If all this do not exist then rather dont even turn up to vote at all. Idea is not to give a single vote to the BN. Why, ask themselves, what have they done wrong to pissed off the minorities?????
aku sokong kau farner…
Congrats to PKR,DAP,PAS and all malaysians !!!
BN ? l0l .. U should listen to all malaysians la ..
Now see la..
Why ? Dont Believe aa? .. l0l
we’ll see how DAP handle penang. dun talk like eng is not a good leader. he was detained in ISA without trial, and worse without reason. see, he still struggle. and here he is. give him a chance. believe he’ll be great.

jadi kenapa masalah kamu ni?apa salah nya bn tumbang kali ni di byk negeri? kalau bn menang sapu bersih semua pun kamu kata pihak pembangkang tu tak pandai ambil hati rakyat pulak?pilihanraya kali ini menunjukkan suara rakyat yang sudah bosan dengan penyalahgunaan kuasa pihak kerajaan.kamu pandia guna internet tak? jangan setakat tahu berita sebelah pihak sahaja. Buletin utama kat tv3 tu bukan satu satu nya sumber nak tahu keadaan sebenar pilihanraya. banyak lagi media alternatif kat internet ni utk kita baca agar dapat gunakan otak utk analisis sendiri apa yang berlaku.kamu ada kat situ ke bila penyokong pembangkang baling batu ke kereta polis tu? tahu tak apa yang berlaku sebenarnya? siapa provoke siapa?
amboi.. bila penyokong pembangkang baling batu kat kereta hak milik kerajaan, dah bising.. busuk2 repair pun tak sampai sejuta ringit. banyak lagi duit kerajaan yg r*zak b*ginda tu dapat dari naj*b tun r*zak..
BN has gone too arrogant and take for granted rakyat cannot think for themselves. Despite what rakyat wants, they kept justifying they need more money to govern the country thru reduce subsidies and at the same time waste tax payers money on non productive projects. Progressive countries are reducing tax but BN seems to think taxing more is better government. BN neglects farmers because they want their crony to take agency as importer of food like rice..Bernas! Make Petronas open its books and be accountable to the rakyat, I am 100% sure a lot of surprises if we view their accounts. Rakyat of all walks, religious, and culture background can think for ourselves, only dumb poilitians in UMNO choose to ignore and divide/rule the rakyat(dumbos! you critise our colonial master but adopt their cruel tactics on your own people).
It amazes me how many people in MALAYSIA asked for PETRONAS open its books to the books to the public, it’s already open..go check it out yourself at:
http://www.petronas.com.my/internet/corp/centralrep2.nsf/frameset_map_corp?OpenFrameset
Please work harder and do some research…don’t take people’s words for granted..
It’s open to the public how much PETRONAS is already contributing to the government..It’s already more than half of its profits..Yes we are oil producer..but how long will it last? What would we do if the resources is no longer there? Yes the profits have tripled since the times Anwar was in power, so do the costs to explore deepwater fields, construct oil rigs..and you wouldn’t be able to see all these in profit and loss statement, it’s in capex as they are all capitalised! If you read PETRONAS’ cashflow statement carefully you will see that it’s cashflow is negative i.e. it’s spending is more than cash income..so please don’t be lazy..go do your research…!!!
its a wake up call to the goverment. I hope pak lah will step down and still i want the barisan to rule the country. I also feel dissapointed towards l/p voters. Shahrizat Jalil should win.I think the main issues that concerns the malaysians now is the criminal cases and the cost of living. I still believe that we should live in peace and harmony. Congrats to Nurul Izzah too, cos PKN so persistent and her determination might inspired young people.
tahniah Nurul iZZAH

Hek eleh.. Motif?!
Woit “Islam is forever”! Kalo dah guna nama Islam tu, jgn a nak bagi buruk kan lagi agama. I bagi contoh tu sbb perbuatan merejam batu tu. Hampeh! Buruk a kata f**k. Nak eja pun I rasa segan.. Uols tak ada rasa beradab ke? Memalukan ibubapa je uols.. Bwk2 berwuduk uols.
Si Robotik ni pun satu.
Tak kira la, byk mana pun yang kena bayar. Damage is damage. Rasuah tu tetap rasuah, walo pun seposen. Same goes to wastage. Kerana nilai sikit, so takyah consider lah? Tgk tu.. Minda org yang suka nampak salah org je. Mentang2 ur parti menang, uols dah start tutup mata sebelah. Judgement dah tak bijak lagi dah… Emo ker?
Uols, i tgk TV dan semua media yang possible. Kalo i tgk Buletin Utama je, takde la i left my replies here, ye tak? So, bila nak kutuk orang pun kena bijak jugak. Org yg bijak tu menganalisa maklumat, bukan mengambil semua maklumat yang dia terima untuk condemn org lain. Tak betul lah tu..
Uols jgn lah emo sgt. What’s done is done. Sedih i tgk negara kita ni. Yang Melayu tak sedar diri, yang kaum lain i tak nak comment. Uols sayangilah negara kita. I sgt2 ler risau ttg negara, tu lah sebab i provide my replies to even the situation kat blog nih. Skrg ni, sape yang sokong BN akan dianggap tak bijak, tak tahu, tak best. Ye ke uols? I dan kwn2 i tak rasa begitu. Org2 yg sokong BN sbnrnya malas nak ngadap org2 yg emo, yang suka maki hamun orang (ops! ISLAM are forever, jgn mara.. haha). Ia cam cuba padam api ngan minyak. Ingat la jgk. Org BN pun ada perasaan. Jgn cuba nyalakan api perpaduan antara kaum, lebih2 lagi antara org Melayu. Kalo bergaduh kan buruk jadinya.
Uols, I sayang kan giler2 Malaysia. Harap uols begitu jugak. I duduk di Selangor, tapi I takde la pulak lari ke negeri lain sbb Keadilan dah take over. I sygkan negeri, negara I. I doakan uols juga..
NEGARAKU uols!
Just look n see how opposition parties will handle the 5 states. Do you really think that they could full fill their manifesto to the voters?? I dont think that the idea to decrease price for petrol and others is a good idea, our deficit will increase in order to subsidize all those things.
Who is going to be chief minister for Perak? DAP/PAS/PKR?
hopefully the BN government will be more effective with strong opposition in parliament.

Good Luck Pak Lah!!
It’s a reminder to all parties concerned, that, any party which sits on the helm should always be sensitive to the needs of the rakyat. Today malaysians of all walks of life irrespective of race, religion, colour, creed and caste has a different mind set compared to 30 years ago. Arrogance and complacency has driven many leaders into acts of vested interest. Gone were the days where one can use race and religion as a tool to indoctrinate voters. Action and deed alone can secure the tenure of one’s leadership, and, that was what exactly lacking in the Barisan leadership and in the circumstances, PKR DAP PAS made the VALUABLE DIFFERNECE. SYABAS…….!
Biar pemimpin kita jalankan tugas mereka. Jangan sukarkan keadaan yang semakin menampakkan kekusutan.
Whatever the result may be… Let’s work for a Peaceful Malaysia!
Aku harap kita orang Malaysia janganlah lupa “di mana bumi dipijak…di situ langit dijunjung”. We should befirmly grounded before aspiring to reach any height. We must realise the strength of “Rakyat” and continue make the people of Malaysia a formidable force to bring about Peace, Justice and Harmony in our life and country.
I just that Malaysian economy will continue to pick up..VK Lingam punished accordingly..
Happy that the M’sian people have made their choice and hope the BN gov’t will rule with fairness and also develop the areas or state accordingly,to the needs of each NOT only the BN areas.
We should always voice any discretion in development - BN has the tendency to not develop the “opposition areas” in the past. Hope they will not do this again for the sake of all Malaysians.
DAP, PKR & PAS should start from day one to monitor any discretion in development and bring up the issue peacefully to the people and I am sure BN will be vote out of gov’t if they go over board and continue to act arrogantly.
We are all peaceful people and what we all want is fairness to all and I am sure the Malays and other bumipitras do not want to be spoon fed by the gov’t forever. They want the gov’t or somebody to teach or guide them to be independent, which many have already done so and more will become capable and great if they are not spoon fed (they can’t learn & grow if the gov’t spoilt them).
woi famer…tak payah la nak emo…dah sape suruh ko buat quote mcm tu..kan dah kene…kalau tanak kene kutuk tak payah la nak sebok2 buat quote mcm tu…ko tu mcm bagus la nak cakap2 pasal politik..kalau ko bagus wahai famer nape name ko tak tercalon utk mane2 kerusi?baik parlimen ke adun ke…adoi..kalau dah tak tau nak cakap pasal politik baik diam je la wahai famer…kalau tak nak org cakap pasal quotes2 awak tu tak payah komen ape2..kalau awak rasa kerajaan bagus awak undi la..lagipun undi kan rahsia…tak payah sebok2 nak kutuk oppositions parties baling batu la ape la…aky rasa kalau ko ade kat situ pon ko buat benda yg same…tah2 ko yg kene baling…hua hua hua…jgn suke serkap jarang..ape yg ko tgk kat tv tu tak semestinya betul..lagi pon ko takde kat tpt kejadian..ko tak payah nak memandai2 cakap ape2…ko sape?ade name ko lam kabinet?takde kan?dah diam…shoh…shoh…sebok je…
I don’t care who won in the election.
What i want is the party which win much rule whith fairness, kindness and good.
AND NO MORE STUPID TAKING BRIBE BY GOVERNEMNT OFFICERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Analisis lah betul2 maklumat dari kedua-dua pihak.
Kalau akal waras yang berfikir, dapatlah tahu jawapannya.
Penang will be next Singapore in due time. Just watch and see.
sokong peoples’s friend. Whatever the results, lets work for a peaceful msia. Tp mcm kesian je tengok Tan Sri Koh tu kalah..but Lim pun not too bad to lead Penang.Apa2 pun, personally i like chinese leader better than malay leader. Diorang chinese ni mcm lebih berhemah pulak drpd pemimpin melayu ni. Any malays here noticed that too?
Congrats to our alternative goverment..My only hope is that people in Sabah n Sarawak to wake up from their long sleep..WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!
kita tgk perak dapat menteri besar dari DAP. baru kita tahu langit tinggi rendah. ni i kata menang sorak , kampung tergadai. ramai tak faham keadaan politik , org cina bila vote, pilih secara strategik, org melayu ikut perasaan… tak fikir anak cucu kita …. ya Allah, satukanlah umat mu ini.
Well, first of all, congrates to barisan2 yang menang,be it nasional or alternative. We, the people of Malaysia have voted and we have chosen. We have done our job. Now, its time to do yours.
and please remember if you don’t do your job well, kami juga boleh menurunkan anda seperti mana kami buat ke atas pemimpin-pemimpin ‘buruk’ ini.
rakyat malaysia…. pembangkang memang okay, tapi jangan sampai, PENANG jadi SINGAPURA…
tahniah PKR!!
To Angkau,
Kitorang sokong BN kat swk coz our BN is not UMNO. And hopefully UMNO will never invade swk. and atas sebab itu jugaklah, susah nak dgr kes2 perpecahan kaum kat swk ni. another thing,PKR is not relevant here. Baik lagi sokon DAP drpd sokong pemimpin melayu yg suka merapu mcm UMNO n PKR.

100% setuju……
it true that we don have race issue in swk but what of the welfare of rural folks in swk plus we are the richest state in Msia but have the facalities of Africa…not to say other issues that the State Gov failed to address after so long in power…Wake Up Sarawakian
It is about time that we get over the racial politics! I am completely exhausted from all the racist remarks that has been spewing from some UMNO leaders. And the worst part is that these so called ‘Menteri2 Melayu’ are in reality descendants of immigrants from countries further than China. Hishamuddin time for you to visit your Khazar homeland!
There are so many comments here on post-election results. We as the people have chosen the leaders, now it’s time to make changes and we shall see if changes will be delivered, immaterial of which side of the fence our chosen leader is from. Politics, are just like the tide.
Fayz,
I bet with you that as long as BN rule, Baginda will get away killing a Mongoilian, we all know he do it for Dep PM. Then Lingam case will slowly snooze off. This is the Msian problem and most Msian is ignorance and refuse to face the fact and reality. We will continue to be idiot country if we have BN.
yarabbi korang ni…. tak abis2 nak kutuk satu sama lain, mengucap le…. camni ke org Islam nak kutuk satu sama lain? kite ni org Islam jangan nak bagi imej buruk kat bangsa dan agama lain, jangan lah nak memalukan agama kite, sedarlah wahai teman2 sekalian.
kepada ISLAM are forever, robotik dan kesian kat BN, jangan lah pule nak kondem si famer, die hanya menyampaikan pendapat die, yang lain2 pun ade jugak mengutuk BN tapi takdelah pulak org lain nak kondem diorang. lagi2 le korang gune bahasa maha kesat, korang tak rase korang ni mencemarkan nama baik Islam?? mengucap le.. boleh kite nak balas pendapat die tapi janganlah menimbulkan kekecohan dan pergaduhan ok. kepada famer, janganlah pulak nak layan serangan diorang, be cool dude. makin u layan diorang makin seronok la diorang nak kondem u. bawa bersabar ok.
dan kepada Ababab, gagagaga, mazwan, zas, steven, JLKL, shankar dan People’s Friend, uols are simply right, gua respek sama comment uols coz walaubagaimana politik negara kite, uols pentingkan keamanan, keharmonian dan keadilan kepada rakyat kite tak kira kaum, bangsa dan agama kerana itulah yang kite mahu dari pemimpin2 kite, tak kisahlah parti BN, parti pembangkang mahupun parti bebas. ambillah contoh negara2 lain yg lebih teruk dan mundur dari segi politik, pembangunan, perkauman, kedamaian, kemakmuran, dll. seharusnya kite bersyukur kerana negara kita nih kire lebih maju dan makmur kalu nak compare dgn mana2 negara yg mundur dan miskin. sama2lah kite berdoa semoga negara kite kekal maju, aman dan damai….
to famer..
saya tak kisah siapa pun pemimpin saya, parti mana pun dia berasal yg penting dia jaga kebajikan rakyat dibawah pimpinan nya.
