People have been talking about POVERTY in Malaysia since the time immemorial. These so called unlucky people want handouts from the government and in achieving this end, some had voted for the Alternative Alliance. But is it true POVERTY in MALAYSIA has become so bad? According to the independent WORLD BANK RECORDS, POVERTY in MALAYSIA has greatly reduced over the years in percentage and in absolute number. This is great news! But in a developing economy like MALAYSIA we still have people on the streets and begging for food? We at Syokkahwin.com tries to study this issue seriously by putting it under our investigative lense. Here are the main causes of POVERTY in MALAYSIA:
- Life changes so fast, people who don’t keep up and upskill will be out of job before they know it!They will move on to a lower income bracket if they don’t upskill by learning new things. Jobs these days at least require people who can read and count. SOLUTION: Always learn something new. Don’t just read petty stuff. Read The Star newspapers at the very least! Buy a RM 20 Oxford Learner’s dictionary and make an attempt to learn at least 5 new words and phrases every day. You will be surprised how you can easily move to a higher income bracket this way. Diplomas are not enough to sell you! You need a degree and good soft skills. Get into a debating club if possible. It will make you a good communicator and perhaps leader if people willing to listen your logics! Read many many FREE motivational stuff i.e. pdf ebooks on the internet from JAY ABRAHAM, BRIAN TRACY, JOE GIRARD, IRFAN KHAIRI, DALE CARNEGIE, NAPOLEON, WALLACE D. WATTLES! Learn about the SECRETS. Law of Attraction etc. You must eat the frog first before you can eat the chicken pies!
- POVERTY AS A CONCEPT OF PRODUCTION - The initial understanding of poverty lies in the thinking that the disparity in income is due to the factors of production. People are poor because they lack factors of production namely labour, land and capital. The assumption was that if these factors of production were given, people would not be poor. Therefore they were given employment or given land or capital or a combination of all these. SOLUTION: This is similar as giving people jobs, land for them to develop as in RANCANGAN FELDA. Thus complaining having trouble to find jobs are just pushing it too hard as they can easily take over jobs currently being done by the BANGLADESHIs and INDONESIANS in restaurants, individual homes, construction sites. Don’t expect the jobs to come rolling to you. Know ways to find good jobs be it at the restaurant, as long distance transport drivers which could earn you more than RM 5,000 a month, jobs advertised in THE STAR newspapers, jobstreet.com, jobsdb.com. Be aware of what’s available for you and make plans to upskill yourself from day one! Have a goal as to where you are going. In this case government should provide life goals courses to this group of people. It can help the people you know! Kemahiran MARA is there for the taking and it’s the lazy individual who sometimes leave it until too late. If this happens should we blame the government?
- POVERTY AS A CONCEPT OF HEALTH - Despite having these factors of production, the income and productivity of the poor is low. The assumption is that this is caused by poor health which in turn is due to inadequate diet or low calorie intake and hence malnutrition. The theory of the vicious cycle of poverty is born. People are poor due to malnutrition which leads to poor health which in turn leads to low productivity and hence low income. This is applicable to datuk dan nenek at kampung who has got no one to assist them doing chores. Because of ill health you could not expect them to work as hard as before. It’s their kids’ responsibilities to help and make them better. Also applicable to those who have big families. Small income unable to feed all of the children thus small mishap i.e. health problem is disrupt dad’s job, thus continuous income streams for the family. Thus in the process of eradicating this type of poverty, government has installed many KLINIK DESA in the rural areas. It’s just a matter of them getting to these clinics and get help. But always the case, the family will struggle if dad is hospitalised if he’s the sole breadwinner for the family. Who would blame them as the mommy needs to take care of the small kids at home whose number is usually greater than five. Ada anak lima you!! To overcome this type of poverty you need to ensure that the wife is upskilled too! SOLUTION: This is where it is lacking in MALAYSIA today. People like these don’t know where to get help.. There should be a special nursery for this category of people so that they can take care of the kids and the mom can work just like any other career woman. They simply cannot afford to hire an amah! From what I hear there are only just above 10 government nurseries all over MALAYSIA.
BERSAMAMU TV3
Try to relate and reflect what I mentioned above to the situations in the clip. Poverty is caused by TWO MAIN POINTS i.e. LACK OF PRODUCTIVITY AND HEALTH! Any attempts to eradicate it should be based along these two main items.
Going forward, we should ask for explicit funds for POVERTY to help those with serious health problems to work, left alone neneks and datuks at kampung with far away irresponsible children, clueless people who don’t know how to upskill and change jobs for better income bracket! Half a billion each year makes good sense for POVERTY PROGRAMME! But isn’t that what the government spent on diesel subsidies, MARA, FELDA development programme, government scholarships, boarding schools, better health care service through more hospital beds?

the rich is getting richer by trying to improve themselves every second, the poor is getting poorer by being happy and taking tak kisah attitude with themselves. There’s no easy way out other than education formal or informal.. don’t believe in getting easy way life out and ended up being tricked by stupid drugs syndicate, get rich quick scheme etc.. you need to educate yourself..start by reading motivational materials on the internet. if you don’t have access, listen to motivasi pagi, read good newspapers such as the star! they cost the same as utusan malaysia..Read the business section please!
