As we are going closer and closer to the end of 2008, we inevitably stop and reflect on the year that has passed. 2008 has been a mixed year. It is the year that is known more for its tears that its joy/happiness. Last year, 2007 ended with a bang, when Datuk Chua Soi Lek, the current MCA’s Deputy President shocked the nation with his naughty antics. Who would give us the earth-shattering shock bigger than Bukit Antarabangsa’s landslide this time around? Well I don’t think Pak Lah will marry for the third time, if that is what you mean? :)

Then came the colourful 2008. Celebrity divorces and splits. It started off with Azharina Azhar then, Farah Ashikin OIAM. Followed by Norish Karman, Siti Fairuz, Nora Danish, Leina Hangat, Cham VE, Anis Suraya, Emma Akma, Noraniza Idris, Linda Onn & Fahrin Ahmad, Ngarizal Ngasri & Nur fahana, Farid Kamil & Irma Hasmie, Syamsul Yusof & Diana Danielle. Those still waiting on their fate are Abby & Norman Hakim, Aziz M Osman & Nor Radhiah, Beego & Intan Shahirah, Radhi OAG & Shazlin Shariff, Erema & Seri Bayu, Zakiah Anas & Yusof Mohamad Taib, Mazidul Sidek, Nash & Sosilawati Lawiya. Break up can be very hurtful and nerve-wracking, it’s painful for you, and it’s equally painful for her.

Here are some tips on how to break up nicely with your partner: 8-)

  1. However kind you may be, there is no way around the fact that this is going to hurt the other person. All you can do is try to minimize the pain. It’s just like ripping off a sticking plaster – if you rip it off all in one go the pain will be over quickly, but if you do it slowly it will hurt for longer.
  2. Do not break up with the person by phone, instant message, or e-mail; this is disrespectful. Have the decency to do it privately and in person.
  3. Try to avoid placing blame on the other person for the break up. I find people to say “Well girl, it’s not you, it’s me.” which can cause more harm. Be as minimalist as possible in your explanation, especially if the reason for the break up is some fault you find with your partner.
  4. Afterwards, tell the person that you hope to stay in touch and that you still care about them.
  5. If you don’t really want to be friends with her, don’t say,”Oh, but we can still be friends.” Because, it hurts more if you avoid her.
