I have just finished watching SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE. I guess the film really deserve to win the biggest awards that it has gotten so far. The central character of the film is played by Dev Pattel who is already a household name in Britain in his tele-serial, Skins. However what has really caught everyone’s eyes is FREIDA PINTO, the girl who shot to fame with her role as LATIKA in the best yet flick coming from BOLLYWOOD. Freida’s first film surprisingly is SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE.

It’s the kind of role that a Kareena Kapoor or Katrina Kaif would love to do, but renowned British director Danny Boyle of Trainspotting fame dropped it into little-known Freida Pinto’s lap. She believes Boyle wanted an unknown face and someone who knew the burning pulse of Mumbai. “I fitted the bill because I’ve spent most of my life here. I’m a pucca Mumbai girl,” said Freida.

Pinto was having a moderate life featuring in several television and print commercials for products such as Wrigleys Chewing Gum, Å koda, Hutch, Airtel, and De Beers. Pinto modeled for two years and appeared in runway shows and magazine covers. At the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival, the movie won the Cadillac People’s Choice Award. At the 2009 Golden Globe Awards, the movie won four awards. Pinto has also been nominated for “Best Actress in a Supporting Role” at the 2009 BAFTA Awards and has won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture alongside ten other cast members from Slumdog Millionaire. The movie has also been nominated for Oscar.
