I know most of you probably would have purchased the trendy Apple iPhone from somewhere, either from Digital Mall in PJ, Low Yat, Singapore or from the U.S. and most of you would have taken the trouble to ask the taukeh selling the iphone to unlock the phone before you can use it here. Today I have received an sms from maxis saying that they will be launching 3G iphone in Malaysia. But damn. The rate plan can really destroy those who harbour dreams of owning this wonderful little toy legally. Monthly commitment starts from RM100 with the phone selling at RM1,900 for an 8Gb memory and guess what..it comes with a long list of terms and conditions which are enough to make your head spin. I guess they may have earned an exclusive right to market the phone in Malaysia.
Well if this is the case, I am keeping my 2 year-old HTC’s Dopod 838 pro. You may check out the page here.

Completely dumb pricing… comes with some seriously damaging clauses in their terms & conditions for existing maxis customers too!
Value Plus plan customers with supplementary lines beware – once you port your main line to the new iPlan, you lose all your free calls, free smses, free video calls to your supp lines. To top that off, supp lines will also return to regular per minute charges – so if your supp lines were enjoying 10 cents per minute calls, this will return to the regular 15. Why? Well, perhaps maxis will have a ‘logical’ answer.
Completely and utterly disappointed.

Why can’t they just bring in the 32GBs version into our shores?
Why only 8GBs?
