P1 Wimax has done it again. At the currently running PIKOM PC FAIR in MALAYSIA, P1 has revealed its latest offering in with latest edge in wimax technology, the P1 Wimax Wiggy. Wiggy is just a small device that fits into your pocket but works just like any other broadband devices. Currently sold at RM149/month, this small wiggy can give you a lightning fast speed at 10 Mbps. If you decide to stay with this device on a 2-year contract, you will also get a FREE ACER mini-laptop, powered by ATOM. Very tempting isn’t it? I was there at KLCC Convention Centre and tested the speed. Although the download speed came up to just 6.5Mbps vs 10 Mbps as claimed, it was still quite impressive. Its fair usage limit is also good, caped at 10 Gb per month, versus, Celcom and Maxis at 3Mbps and 5Mbps respectively. P1 is expanding its coverage in KL, JB and Penang. So if you live in these towns, you can be rest assured that your mobility to surf is not limited. I can say this is the second hottest thing after the PC Fair girls at this year’s PIKOM PC Fair..
So don’t lose out. Let’s get wiggy with Wimax.

For those who are thinking of getting the Wiggi please reconsider as I think the service sulks at least in my area in cheras.
The Speed advetised is 10MBPS and in small prints says from 1MBPS to MBPS. Im currently staying on the 13th Floor and P1 said that I will receive inconsistant speed at that floor. They claimed that the service is up to 10th floor only.
Yeah right if I had not been to Penang! In Penang I was able to get a bit more than 3MBPS on the 21st Floor which is fine for me and I told them of that fact.
Now in the morning will get around 0.8 to 1.5MBPS but in the evenings I get less that 0.5MBPS.
After logding a report for 2 weeks the technical team still has not got back to me.
I believe it is due to congestion problem and also the poorly skilled technical man power in the installation of the base station and also support in KL as compared to Penang.

i am still using streamyx..but hopefully their competitors are catching up with them pretty soon and give them a run for their money…YTL eSolutions…where are you??
at 7:45 am
actually i switched from streamyx as I could not stand their inconsistant speed and I thought that having intel as their shareholder would make a diferrence. Actually I truly believe thier technology can deliver what is expected of them if not for the technical staff or the lousy equipment they are using..(china made base station).
Just now at 7.30am I tested the speed went up to 3.5 MBPS but will not last. I think the congestion has something to do with it. It should be an easy task for them to slove any congestion problem since their technology is the latest.
I made a mistake to have subscribed with the free net book package. Now I have to pay for the Netbook if I terminate.
I’m staying in cheras near courts cheras.
I’ll bey you that YTL e solutions can do better since they are willing to spend billions in infrastructure. Fact of the matter is that this is a money game the more you spend on excellent infrastructure the better your service and customers will come lining up since everybody is sick and tired of the inferior service and the damn slow internet connection.
This is a product of the BN goverment… Malaysia Boleh…
