Panties Thief Gets 25-Week Jail

This thing surprises me. As I was going through the papers this morning, I was quite taken a back by a story that there is a panty thief in MALAYSIA. I guess these people are everywhere. However, they are particularly common in Japan, where they are called “shitagi dorobou”. Unsurprisingly, “shitagi” means underwear, while “dorobou” is thief. For women living in the apartment blocks of Japan’s most built-up urban areas, where clotheslines are in public view and relatively easy to access, panty theft is not an uncommon occurrence. On one occassion, one man was caught with 700 articles of womens underwear in his garage which he had been accummulating since 1992.

SOME OF THE PANTIES OR UNDERGARMENTS RECOVERED IN JAPAN

While in MALAYSIA, a man with a fetish for women’s underwear was arrested for the theft of more than 70 panties, including many belonging to nursing students at an apartment here. Penampang district police chief Deputy Supt Madang Usat said the man pretended to distribute flyers and business cards to gain access at the Ramin Court apartment complex at Jalan Nosoob. Two YOUNG trainee nurses living in separate units at the apartment building had lodged reports on March 20 and April 3 claiming that their panties had been stolen in the break-ins, he said on Monday. Nothing else was stolen. He said investigations led police to the 34-year-old unemployed local man. Some of the stolen panties were recovered from his car, and the suspect later led police to another two packages hidden under a stairway at the Donggonggon business centre here. Meanwhile, in his mitigation Zunaidi told the court that he stole the underwear to resale at a secondhand clothing market. What a lame excuse. These people are called panties raider in Malaysia. What a name. Whatever it is, raiding panties is a form of sexual fetish which can be dangerous if not properly managed.
