Oh! Tidak…Bintang dan Bulan.. Apa Sudah Jadi Dengan Influenza A H1N1 virus?

Many people have started to become very afraid on being infected with the INFLUENZA A  H1N1 virus (swine flu) especially now there are more than 200 cases reported in the country. In the United States, close to 1 million Americans have now contracted the H1N1 influenza, according to  Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In Malaysia, Tamiflu tablets are selling like crazy and from several enquiries that I made to clinics and private hospitals, I found out that they simply have run out of stocks. OMG, people in Malaysia have become so kiasu. According to WHO Director-General Margaret Chan, “it will likely be September before the first doses of an H1N1 vaccine become available “and even then, ‘there will be limited supply of vaccine,‘ she said. ‘The challenge to the world will be to look at who should get the vaccine and, within a country, which groups get the vaccine’”

I guess they must stock up the tablets just in case the problem becomes uncontrollable and there is huge demand for the tablets. But the effectiveness of tamiflu in preventing H1N1 is still questionable. In some countries like the U.S. the virus has mutated and becomes resistant to tamiful vaccine. Novartis, a drug company who is going to get rich very quick soon for producing the most potent H1N1 vaccine to date will only be able to ship the vaccine this September. That’s like close to two months man..!! So what we should do till then? May be these people can give you some ideas.. heehh Just check out how desperate people have become in certain countries in making sure that they are not infected with this widely spread virus.
