It’s a well known fact that it comes to mega sale, even a gentleman, money-less man in the street like me are tempted to go out and shop. Sales are designed to attract people who are on the fence. When money is short, men’s friendly weapon to shop has always been a credit card. Malaysians have been known to own more than 5 credit cards on average. Thus that kinda explains the sustainability rate of domestic consumption even during crisis period .
MEGA SALE IS DESIGNED TO MAKE PEOPLE SPEND!
SHOPPING @ SURIA KLCC
But ever since the government introduces the RM50 tax on each credit card held, people have started to become very selective. From 5 cards, they whittle it down to just 1 or 2.
STACKS OF CREDIT CARDS..POWER OF LEVERAGE.. HAHA..
If there is only one card in the world that I have to choose, it has to be American Express or Amex for short. It’s the card that I couldn’t do without. Why? Of course because of its exclusivity and brand recognition worldwide. I have been overseas a couple of times, and guess what..If I pay using cards bearing other names i.e. Malaysian local banks, the retailer actually thinks twice to accept it especially when you are from Asia where the majority of credit card fraudsters originate. When you pay with Amex, it’s like introducing yourself as James Bond.. “My name is Bond, James Bond”..kinda sensation…:)
AMEX GOLD CREDIT CARD..PRETTY SLICK HUH..
Having Amex makes it easy for me to keep track of my expenses. First, the statement that I get at the end of the month is always detailed and prompt. If you have problem paying the full amount, no sweat because Amex’s low Finance Charge of 9% p.a. on your outstanding retail balance. Doesn’t this provide you withh significant savings? All you have to do is promptly settle your minimum payment of 5% or a minimum of RM25. Pretty neat huh? Balance Transfer is another unique value proposition by Amex. Due to some heavy spending, I have over the years accumulated crazy amount of debts on my credit card.. and they just won’t stop bugging me if I don’t pay on time. They put me on automatic dialling function that calls me at every certain interval reminding me to pay which is very annoying. But good thing I have my Amex as it allows me to transfer the amount on other cards at zero interest.. Tell me which other cards could match this deal? This offer is valid until April 2011.. so those of you who dont have Amex yet.. you better apply now before it’s too late.
I remember making my car purchase downpayment using a credit card and the dealer has no problem with it. When you travel, you are guaranteed up to RM 1 million in insurance for personal accident and luggage loss compensation of RM2,500. Plus you are protected up to RM 20,000 on your purchased item (gold) or RM150,000 for platinum cards…Aahh peace of mind at last.
The thing that I like most about Amex is their generosity with membership rewards. Yes, other cards may have cash rebates but the rebates are so small, that they don’t even compare with the 5x Membership Rewards points for every Ringgit spent at places like Groceries, Petrol, Cathay Cineplexes, participating bookstores – Borders, Kinokuniya, MPH, Times – and Telecommunication charges via Express AutoPay – Maxis, Celcom, DiGi, Telekom and you are getting only 2x membership rewards elsewhere with other cards.
If you want to have the same privilege and treatment , check out their website here. Your wife, daughter/son can also have similar priviliges with supplementary cards .. I am sure they are begging for one after they heard all of the above .
