Helpless and injured, MALAYSIAN MARA STUDENT, Asyraf Haziq was inhumanely mugged by thugs in Barking East, London. He said he was due to have surgery on his jaw at the Royal London Hospital and slowly recovering. Asyraf made headlines not only in Malaysia but also internationally in London, Canada and even across other places in the Globe. Mohd Asyraf Haziq, 20, an accountancy student at Kaplan Financial college, lost his wallet, a handphone and bicycle in the attack. He had just arrived in London a month ago. He was also punched in the face. An unidentified local woman pulled him into her home, contacted one of Haziq’s friends on Facebook and made sure the stunned student got to the hospital. The video of him being beaten was put up on Youtube and has been viewed millions of times.
By Wednesday, the shocking video had caused enough of an outrage that British Prime Minister David Cameron referenced it in his speech. “There are pockets of our society that are not just broken but frankly sick,” Cameron told reporters. “When we see children as young as 12 and 13 looting and laughing, when we see the disgusting sight of an injured young man with people pretending to help him while they are robbing him, it is clear that there are things that are badly wrong with our society.”
Despite his ordeal, Haziq, who won a full scholarship to study accounting in England under MARA, remains positive and wants to complete his studies in England.
